Due to the number of recent disaster in Bastrop County and surrounding areas, we believe that people are more interested in emergency planning than ever before. According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, almost 40% of small businesses never reopen following a disaster.
For this reason, the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce along with the Bastrop EDC, Texas State Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and the Elgin and Smithville Chambers are hosting a Disaster Preparedness Workshop. Our target area for this workshop are Bastrop, Caldwell, Lee, Fayette and northern Gonzales Counties, but everyone is invited to attend so that they can prepare their business if a future disaster hits.
This half day event we give business owners a hands-on opportunity to walk away with at least a draft of an emergency plan for their business. Included in the day will be a panel discussion with stories from business owner about lessons learned during recent fires and floods along with a keynote speaker (TBA).
Space is limited, so register early.
