The 9th Annual Taste of Lockhart Art & Cultures will be held Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 11am-4pm. This event is designed to move people around town and in and out of the area businesses. Participating businesses choose a culture to celebrate, decorate their store, and provide a special dish from that culture for visitors to their business to sample. This event has expanded and changed up a bit this year. Along with fabulous food from many different cultures, there will be art on display from local artist, tours of the courthouse, entertainment, live music, and fun. The Main Street Market on will be there as it is every Saturday from 8:30-noon.
This year we have 20 participating businesses around the downtown area and a few from outside the Central Historical District involved and providing food for visitors. The community and visitors to Lockhart are encouraged to pick up a Passport and "travel" throughout the participating businesses getting their Passport stamped. You will also have the opportunity to vote on your favorite culture represented by a participating business. The business that receives the most votes will win a traveling trophy. Visitors to the Taste of Lockhart Arts & Cultures are eligible for prizes by getting their passport stamped by the majority of participating businesses.
Passports with the list of participating businesses along with a map are available at the Lockhart Chamber of Commerce, City Hall and the Dr. Eugene
Clark Library prior to the event and at participating businesses and the Imagine Lockhart booth on Saturday, September 24th. Passports must be turned in to the Imagine Lockhart booth by 4 pm. Prizes awarded between 4:30 and 5pm.
