The first weekend in December beginning Friday night,
the annual “A Dickens’ Christmas in Lockhart”
at the Dr. Eugene Clark Library located at 217 S. Main
and Prairie Lea Streets. The event begins with a "Lighted
Christmas Parade" around the courthouse square
on Friday evening, and then all day Saturday there are
many events to enjoy! Click

A
fun time is always had by all who attend this grand
day! Where Downtown Lockhart is transformed into 19th
Century England as characters from Charles Dickens'
classic novels parade down Main Street. Bob Cratchit,
Tiny Tim, Oliver Twist and various animals and other
forms of entertainment provide the way for the arrival
of Father Christmas into Lockhart.
This
unique community features authentic Victorian decorations,
a costume parade, choirs, jugglers, bagpipers, carriage
rides, thousands of Christmas lights and the culmination
of the evening…the lighting of the Yule Log. Once
lit, the Lord High Mayor announces the proclamation
that Christmas has come to light. Then the library and
the historic downtown are lit.
A
Dickens’ Christmas event is sponsored by the community
and the Friends of the Library, as well as being the
City of Lockhart’s holiday gift to the residents
and visitors of Lockhart and Caldwell County.
Throughout
the day you can enjoy a leisurely lunch at various booths
and then enjoy authentic English Sweets at Ye Olde Sweet
Shoppe. Father Christmas also appears every year to
hear requests for those special wishes. View
