The 38th Annual Chisholm Trail Roundup (BBQ Capital of Texas Cook-off and Music Festival) is June 9-12, 2010. It is Lockhart’s biggest annual festival! The second week in June, from Wednesday to Saturday in the City Park, there is a packed schedule of activities and fun for all ages. This is a major tourism event for the Lockhart Chamber of Commerce and the City of Lockhart. Chisholm Trail Roundup is attended by 25,000+ people from cities and counties all over Central Texas. Many are represented by beautiful parade floats on Saturday morning.
The festival really begins with the Chisholm Cup Golf Tournament on the Sunday before at an area golf course, followed by a Kick-off Party for Sponsors and Trail Bosses on Monday evening and then a Cowboy Breakfast on the Square on Wednesday morning. Wednesday evening the carnival begins out at the City Park at 5pm and operates through Saturday night at 1am. Throughout the entire event there are various types of music from DJ’s, to local bands, and headliners on Friday and Saturday evenings. Dances are held on both Friday and Saturday nights.
Other highlights of Chisholm Trail Roundup are the annual crowning of the CTR Queen and Court on Thursday night followed by an “Awesome Auction” to benefit Project Graduation. Saturday morning a “Grand Parade” is held at 10am and attracts entrees from many surrounding communities. On Saturday are Barbecue and Chili Cook-offs as well.
Come join us for the festival’s horseshoe & washer pitching contest, see the car show, eat great food, browse the vendor booths, enjoy entertainment, and much more!
